Distinguishing Features
Small evergreen rheophytes or terrestrials; leaf blade simple, elliptic, fine venation parallel-pinnate; spathe boat-shaped, not constricted; spadix male and female zones contiguous; flowers unisexual, perigone absent. Differs from Homalomena in male flower consisting of solitary stamen overtopped by a flask-shaped pistillode, 1-locular ovaries and basal placentation.
