Distinguishing Features
Robust to gigantic helophytes forming large colonies, rhizome short, thick, hypogeal; petiole 4-6-angled; leaf blade deeply sagittate, fine venation reticulate; flowers bisexual, perigoniate; ovules 4-6 (-8). Differs from Cyrtosperma in having long stolons, petiole spines in ridges, stamen filaments free or connate (free in Cyrtosperma ) and tropical West African range.
